Macca's Thoughts On The Past Decade

Sir Paul McCartney: marrying Heather Mills was 'mistake of the decade'

Asked if it was his worst error in the last decade, he replied: “OK, yeah. I suppose that has to be the prime contender.”

But the former Beatle, who has a six-year-old daughter, Beatrice, with former model Miss Mills, refused to criticise his ex-wife in an interview with Q magazine.

He said: “I don’t want to down anyone. These things happen. I tend to look at the positive side, which is that I have another beautiful daughter out of it.”

Although Sir Paul avoided mentioning Miss Mills, who walked away with a £24.3 million settlement after they divorced last year, he did reveal he is happy with Nancy Shevell, his new girlfriend, according to the Daily Mirror.

He was asked to name “the best things about this century” and said: “Just being with my children. And having a new girlfriend. That is very nice, thank you.”

Despite the acrimonious divorce, Sir Paul, 67, insisted he has had a good time for most of the past 10 years, saying: “I’ve managed to feel quite fulfilled this decade.”

He also dismissed rumours he will retire soon. “I have too much fun,” he said. “Why would I retire? Sit at home and watch TV? No thanks. I’d rather be out playing.”

Miss Mills’ divorce deal was made up of a lump sum of £16.5 million plus assets and property, worth around £7.8 million.

Entertainment Weekly: At 45, Sandra Bullock Having Best Year of Career

This Week's Cover: Sandra Bullock soars

    by EW staff

As the Blind Side crosses the $130 million mark (and counting), studio executives throughout Hollywood are ordering their assistants to send their congratulations to Bullock’s doorstep — often in bubbly, liquid form. “No one really drinks in our house, so we don’t really do anything with that,” the actress says, pulling her long hair into a loose pony tail. “But we get a lot of champagne!” The Blind Side comes just five months after Bullock made her long-anticipated return to her romantic comedy roots in The Proposal, which surpassed everyone’s expectations by going on to rake in $314 million worldwide.
The 45-year-old is enjoying the best year of her acting career, which may bode well for everyone who wants to see more well-told stories about grown women up on the big screen. “Sexism is everywhere. Ageism is everywhere. But you know know what? It’s about making money. Look at what Sarah Jessica Parker did with Sex and the City. Look at what Meryl Streep is doing” — she pauses to laugh — “every other week! The proof is in the pudding. I didn’t have the ‘Oh my God, I’m not working because I’m 40.’ I was working when I was 40. I’ve never had this many opportunities in my lifetime.”

For more on Sandra Bullock, plus an inside peek at how the real-life woman she portrays in The Blind Side feels about the film’s runaway success, pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands 12/11.

How much does Oscar love a musical?

Next week’s release of Rob Marshall’s “Nine” will cap off what is surely one of this decade’s most notable cinematic trends: The return of the movie musical. Outside of animated films, the movie musical had essentially been considered dead for nearly two decades. There had once been a time when musicals routinely won multiple Oscars and would even find themselves among the year’s top grossing films. There were five musical Best Picture winners out of eight nominees between 1958 and 1969, one of which - “The Sound of Music” - grossed the present day equivalent of $1,022,542,400 dollars. And while the 1970s and early 1980s brought a few notable examples (“Grease” wasn’t exactly an Oscar favorite, it grossed over $500 million when adjusted for inflation), between 1984 and 2000, only one live action musical (“Evita”) received an Oscar nomination or grossed over $15 million domestically.

But then came the 2000s. First, two innovative indies - Lars Von Trier’s “Dancer In The Dark” and John Cameron Mitchell’s “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” - drew international acclaim and managed to rake in reasonable specialty box office. Then came Baz Luhrmann’s “Moulin Rouge!,” which managed a $57 million gross - the highest any musical had seen since 1982’s “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” - and received 8 Academy Award nominations, including best picture. Hollywood took notice, and from that point forward, big-budgeted, star-studded musical “events” seemed to meet us every year. While overall, they didn’t find a perfect financial or critical record (“The Producers” is the best example of both), they certainly spiced up the mainstream cinematic landscape, and often found themselves major fixtures during awards season. So, in anticipation of “Nine,” let’s run down the twelve films that led up to it and how they ended up fairing come awards time. We’ll end off with consideration of how “Nine” - which I got a chance to see last night when it opened the Dubai International Film Festival - might play out.

I loved this performance. Tori's really expressive...very smiley during the first two songs. & although I kind of don't like how she draws out some of the words in Winter, but the emotion is great.

    Westlife: Girls Aloud are "over-sexualised"

Westlife have criticised chart rivals Girls Aloud and say the ladies came across as "too over-sexed" on their recent tour.

Talking to next month's edition of Cosmopolitan, the Irish man band also reveal all about their 'new sexy image' and make claims that they've trashed a few hotel rooms in the past.

Mark said of their 'new look': "It’s not that we’re trying to be more edgy. It’s more that we’re going back to who we really are. We’d become too safe. And the safer something becomes, the blander it is."

Shane chipped in: "We were too boring! When I put on a suit now I want to feel special again - I don’t want to just feel that I’m putting on a uniform."

Fierce bitch has a fierce baby.

BRITISH model Jourdan Dunn has given birth to a baby boy, VOGUE.COM can exclusively reveal. The baby was born at midday on Tuesday December 8 and weighed just over seven pounds. The model and her partner haven't yet decided on a name.

"Jourdan is really well and super happy," a spokesperson for her agency, Storm, revealed today. "She is due to get home from the hospital with her little boy today."

Jourdan, who has been with her boyfriend for the past five years, was picking up her Model of the Year Award at the British Fashion Awards this time last year - and it seems fashion is keen to get her back as soon as possible. Industry rumours suggest that Dunn's baby was approached to make his modelling debut before he was even born, with brands keen to photograph him alongside his famous mother.

But for now Dunn, who was still on the catwalk at 7 months pregnant for Jean Paul Gaultier, plans to rest and enjoy her baby.

The original title was "Jourdan Mum" so mine is better. Congrats, bb. Sorry I thought you'd thrown your career away ;-)

Kevin out Christmas Tree shopping with Sean and Jayden
Making preparations for the holiday season, Kevin Federline took his sons Sean Preston and Jayden James Christmas Tree shopping yesterday (December 9).

The former Mr. Britney Spears was joined by his girlfriend Victoria Prince and his father Mike as he perused the selection at the Canoga Park, California tree lot.
Sean and Jayden enjoyed a mini locomotive train ride and plenty of holiday candy canes during their family outing.

And it looks like the Federlines found that perfect tree, as they drove off with it loaded in the back of their truck.

She's has a reputation for being a demanding diva at times, so when Jennifer Lopez hit a Beverly Hills boutique yesterday, the shop girls were quick to stand to attention.
The singer spent the afternoon being fussed over by two assistants at high end Robertson Boulevard store Alice + Olivia.

She was on the lookout for a new dress and was presented with a series of glamorous options including a black strapless number and a gold sequinned confection

The designer label is popular among Hollywood stars, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow.
But despite the staff's best efforts, J.Lo walked away from the store empty handed.

Typically, I would be bummed that Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy and Britney all topped Muse's plays. (And Taylor Swift had 1/3 of Muse's listeners, wtf. Are Taylor Fans fucking crazy obsessed?) But I hated The Resistance, so I am pretty indifferent towards it. I can't wait to see them live this spring though. :')

    Don't call my name, Antonio~

An Italian designer for the stars, Antonio Berardi, has turned down Lady GaGa.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The Milan designer, who counts among his clients Victoria Beckham, Megan Fox, Amber Rose, Eva Mendes and Gwyneth Paltrow, declined an offer from GaGa to collaborate.

"I was approached to design a clothing range with Lady GaGa but I knocked it back because I wasn't interested in someone whose music is meaningless," Berardi said.

GaGa is a performance artist whose musical career is soaring. Songs she has released such as Paparazzi have rocketed up the charts. Her penchant for outlandish costumes, including those with high-voltage shock value, has drawn mixed reactions.

Berardi, who was in Sydney, said: "Her music is meaningless now so what impact will it have in 20 years?"

The Sicilian-born designer of heel-less latex boots worn by Beckham was in Australia for the first Peroni Young Designer Awards, held in conjunction with Harpers Bazaar at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Chris Brown Says Graffiti Has Gotten A 'Great Response' From Fans

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Chris Brown had his day in court when he pleaded guilty for his assault on Rihanna earlier this year. But with the Tuesday (December 8) release of Graffiti — his first project since the February assault — finds the singer facing a different kind of judgment.

So far, though, Brown said the feedback he's gotten from the public has been praiseworthy for his album, the third of his career.

"My fans [have] given me a great response on the album," Brown told MTV News. "They actually said they love it. They tell me what songs they love. Like 99 percent of the comments are all positive about the album."

He also brushed off Rolling Stone's mediocre review: 'I didn't get the way they looked at my album.' )
